Biography

Mrs. Taonga Chirwa-Moonga joined the University of Zambia as a lecturer in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition in 2014. She is actively involved in teaching and coordinating courses at different levels of the Bachelor’s program and these include Principles of Human Nutrition, Principles of Dietetics, Diet Formulation and Dietetic Management, Nutrition Disorders and Food Science Nutrition.

Research Interests

Her main research interests include the prevention and/or treatment of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) using a holistic healthy nutrition approach (including physical activity) and also to analyze and categorize nutritious Zambian indigenous foods for their promotion and consumption in order to prevent hunger, disease and malnutrition (includes stunting, wasting and overnutrition) in both the young and the elderly.
