The Republican President, His Excellency, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, has pledged to complete the students’ hostels both at the University of Zambia’s Great East Road and Ridgeway Campuses on Wednesday, 9th April 2025.

Speaking during the tour of incomplete hostels at both campuses, President Hichilema said the New Dawn government has prioritised education and is committed to resolving the challenges the university was facing. President Hichilema said his government has developed a deliberate strategy to promote education from the grassroots because education was an equaliser. 

The University of Zambia (UNZA) has awarded an honorary Doctorate of Business Administration to Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.

The University of Zambia (UNZA) and First Quantum Minerals Trident Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will see the institutions collaborate in research and development, staff training, as well as student support programmes.

The government has commended the University of Zambia for its continued support in providing high-level training in various areas of economic development.

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has partnered with the University Of Zambia (UNZA) through the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies to provide training in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to the members of staff to enhance quality service delivery for the ministry and the government at large.

The University of Zambia and its cooperating partners namely the Alga Kahn University, Kenya, Center for Genomic Medicine, the University of Cape, Kamuzu University of Health Science, and the University of Oxford have launched the African Leadership for Measuring Brain Health in Children and Adolescents (ALMA) consortium which will run for three years.

The University of Zambia (UNZA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) that will focus on conducting research and joint publications on health insurance and health financing, in line with Section 5 of the National Health Insurance Act.
