He is a highly motivated and results-oriented individual with a proven track record of success. His strong organisational, communication, and analytical skills, coupled with his ability to network effectively, position him ideally to lead the University of Zambia's ambitious research and innovation agenda in today's dynamic higher education landscape.
Professor Kalusopa brings to this role a wealth of experience across diverse institutions, having previously held positions at the University of Zambia, the University of Botswana, the University of Zululand in South Africa, and the University of Namibia where he served as Chair for Research and Ethics at the University of Namibia's School of Humanities, Society and Development, demonstrating his commitment to ethical research practices.
Beyond academia, Professor Kalusopa's is also the founding and current Executive Director of the Zambia Institute for Labour Research and Development (ZILARD) based in Lusaka, Zambia. He further enriched his understanding of regional labour dynamics through his previous role as Director for Research and Education at the Southern Africa Trade Union Coordination Council (SATUCC).
He is an established senior academician and researcher currently serving as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Zululand, South Africa, holds an impressive body of research with wide international, regional, and national impact. This is demonstrated by his numerous refereed journal articles, edited books, book chapters, public conference papers, technical policy reports and non-refereed monographs. His accomplishments as a researcher are further underscored by over 100 peer-reviewed scientific papers published in international and local journals, over 70 conference proceedings contributions, and several popular articles.
Professor Kalusopa holds an impressive academic background, holding a PhD in Information Science from the University of South Africa (UNISA) with a specialisation in labour market information support systems. He further earned a Master's of Science in Information Science from Addis Ababa University (AU), Ethiopia. He began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Library Information Studies and Public Administration from the University of Zambia. His expertise is further enriched by various professional certificates.
