Landilani Banda joined the University of Zambia in December 2014. He specialises in Human rights law, International law, Medical law and Constitutional law. Since joining UNZA, he has taught Jurisprudence, Clinical legal education, Constitutional law and Disability rights law. He has also been co-lecturer in Medical law and tutored the law of Contract.
Landilani holds a bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Zambia and a Master of Laws in International human rights and HIV in Africa (LL.M) form the Centre for human rights, University of Pretoria. He is currently a Doctor of Laws (LL.D) candidate at the University of Pretoria with a research focus on the rights of minority groups in Africa and the right to health. Landilani is also an Advocate of the High Court of Zambia with eleven years standing and was for four years a member of the Council of the Law Association of Zambia. He is the current convenor of the Human Rights Committee of LAZ and past convenor of the Law reform and research committee. In 2016 he was awarded the prestigious Mandela Washington Fellowship for young African Leaders. Between 2015 and 2017 he was board member of the Women and Law in Southern Africa.
As a human rights lawyer and advocate Landilani has appeared and made submissions before the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and one of the cases led to the adoption of a resolution in combating illicit financial flow (IFF) from Africa.
