The Minister of Education, Hon. Douglas Shakalima, MP, visited the newly constructed, state-of-the-art Zambia Research and Education Network (ZAMREN) building at the University of Zambia (UNZA) Great East Road Campus.
Mr Shakalima expressed his satisfaction with ZAMREN's new, ultra-modern office space. He was particularly pleased that one of the rooms would be dedicated to fostering innovation and developing solutions to pressing societal challenges.
Speaking during the tour, the University of Zambia Vice Chancellor, Prof Mundia Muya, said that Management was proud of ZAMREN's achievements in connecting and providing internet access to researchers and higher learning institutions across the country.
Prof Muya pledged Management's continued support to ZAMREN's noble mandate.
For the past 12 years, ZAMREN has been housed at UNZA's School of Education. This new facility reflects the natural synergy between ZAMREN's mission and the university setting.
ZAMREN connects Zambian researchers and higher learning institutions to their global counterparts, fostering collaboration and promoting modern teaching methods that leverage technology.
Notably, ZAMREN offers high-performance computing equipment capable of processing data at exceptional speeds
