The 2019 International Chinese Education Conference was held in Changhsa Hunan Province – China on 9th and 10th December 2019. The theme of this conference was Innovation and Development of International Chinese Education in the New Era. More than 1,000 Chinese and foreign delegates from more than 160 countries held discussions on issues such as deepening system reforms, enriching school resources, improving school quality and promoting diversified development.
Tian Xuejun, Deputy Minister of Education, officiated at the closing ceremony of the conference. Mr Tian Xuejun pointed out that international Chinese education had strong practical needs to address. The Deputy Minister emphasized the need to continuously attract and encourage the active participation of all stakeholders in order to consolidate the social and public foundation of Chinese education. Mr Xuejun also expressed great optimism that the different stakeholders would work together to make international Chinese education a bridge that would continue to enhance mutual understanding, communication and cooperation among the global community. He added that International Chinese Education had a key role to play which should be harnessed to
widen the road for promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, while contributing to the wisdom and strength we require to build a community that endorses the belief of a shared future for humanity and a better future for society as a whole.
The conference concluded with the set up of a special forum on the "Chinese + Vocational Skills" project, inviting Chinese and international partners to discuss how to carry out employment and entrepreneurship leveraging, so that Chinese teaching could better serve local economic and social development. The conference's thirty-two workshops discussed international Chinese education policies, standards, teachers, teaching materials, teaching methods, examinations, brand project building, and deepening Sino-foreign cooperation, as well as many other important international Chinese education topics.
