Biography

The Vice Chancellor is Professor of Construction Management.  He has previously served as Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Zambia and as Chairperson of the Zambia Information and Communication Authority (ZICTA).  He once served as an International Member of the Global Infrastructure Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) Advisory Council based in the United Kingdom.  He is Past President of the Engineering Institution of Zambia and previously served as board member of the Engineering Registration Board. He has served as Chairman of the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company, National Housing Authority and Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Zambia. He has also served as director on the boards of Millennium Challenge Account Zambia (MCA-Z), Road Development Agency, Zambia Centre for Dispute Resolution, Road Contractors Company Limited of Namibia and National Council for Construction and also was a trustee on the Kafue Gorge Regional Training Centre. He was Founding Executive Committee Member of the Zambian Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and member of the Expert Group of the Network of African Science Academies based in Kenya. He has served external examiner at Makerere University in Uganda, and as Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Zambia. He previously served as Chairman of the Editorial Board and Editor of The Zambian Engineer, Journal of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, and Associate Editor of the University of Zambia Journal of Science and Technology. He is a civil engineer.  He is a Fellow and Life Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia, is registered with the Engineering Registration Board, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building of the UK, Fellow of the Zambia Academy of Sciences and Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.  He attended a Commonwealth Scholarship Commission funded post-doctoral Fellowship at Loughborough University.  He has a PhD in Construction Management sponsored by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and an MSc in Construction sponsored by the British Council, both from Loughborough University in the UK and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Zambia. He went to Hillcrest Technical Secondary School in Livingstone and attended Muoyo Primary School in Senanga, Western Province.
