Prof Boniface Namangala, has brought with him a rich hands-on experience, necessary skill sets and leadership qualities needed to execute the accountabilities of the Office of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) at Zambia’s premier University.
Prior to this new appointment, Prof Namangala has served the University for nearly thirty (30) years, in several administrative positions including that of (i) Assistant Dean Undergraduate Studies, (ii) Assistant Dean Postgraduate Studies, (iii) Head of Department, (iv) Director, Institute of Distance Education, and (v) Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor since May 2022.
Further, Prof Namangala, actively and diligently contributed to the smooth running of the various University Boards, Committees and other assignments associated with the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor during the period he acted in that position. In addition, he served as a member of the University of Zambia Senate since 2013 and has been involved in the development and review of several University policy documents.
As a prolific academic, he rose through the ranks from the position of Lecturer III to the rank of full Professor, having taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and having supervised several postgraduate students at Masters and PhD levels in Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology.
He is an accomplished researcher as evidenced by over 100 scientific papers published in international and local peer-reviewed refereed journals, and over 70 papers in Conference Proceedings, as well as several popular articles, with an H-Index of 30.
The new Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is a holder of the PhD in Parasite Immunology from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium; MSc in Veterinary Microbiology from the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, UK; Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zambia and has several professional certificates.
