Marthias Silwamba is the lecturer and researcher in the Department of Metallurgy and Mineral Processing at the University of Zambia. He holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He is currently on study leave pursuing his PhD from Hokkaido University, Japan. His research interests include reprocessing of metallurgical wastes (slag, sludge, leach residues, and tailings) to recovery valuable minerals/metals, physical concentration (using advanced jig) of valuable metal components from crushed waste electrical and electronic equipment, extraction and recovery of valuable metals from waste electrical and electronic equipment, and process control systems applied in mineral processing and extractive metallurgical plants.
