University of Zambia Lecturers/researchers in the School of Education Department of Language and Social Sciences Education and School of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Department of Literature and Languages have supported the government for reintroducing the so called new literacy policy.

A group of researchers from the University of Zambia developed a simple LAMP procedure for detecting sleeping sickness in humans. Speaking in an interview with professor Boniface Namangala a representative of the researchers and the 2013 UNZA DRUSSA Platform Article select, noted that the ministry of Health at university teaching hospital are using the procedure in line with the world health organisation guidelines.

A group of researchers from the University of Zambia developed four new types of beans.
Speaking in an interview with a representative of the researchers recently, Dr. K. Munyinda indicated that farmers are growing the new type of beans and they like the new varieties as they cook fast, rich in nutrients, resistant to insects, some are bigger in size while others have undergone some changes in color and morphological structure.
