Mr. Henry M. Chimana is a Biomedical Scientist working as a Lecturer and Researcher in the department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Zambia, School of Health Sciences. Mr. Chimana teaches Ridgeway campus students the following courses: Laboratory Management, Medical and Public Health Microbiology, Research Project, Research Methodology, Medical Microbiology, Laboratory Placement, Cellular Pathology, Fundamentals to Biomedical Sciences, Critical Evaluation. His research interest is in the following:- Genomics and bioinformatics, Antimicrobial Resistant (AMR), Public Health,  Bacterial/Mycological infectious diseases,  Antimicrobial resistance and Zoonoses, Epidemiological and Molecular characterization studies of Zoonotic microorganisms of Public Health interest, Comparative studies of genetic mapping of Brucella arbotus isolates from Humans and Animals, Isolation and identification of Brucella abortus from Human infertility cases, Studies of genetic mapping of Mycobacteria tuberculosis, bovis and leprae in Zambia. Salmonella, Shigella and Escherichia food poisoning isolates genetic mapping. The studies of genetic dynamics of Cholera outbreaks in Zambia. Comparative and epidemiological studies of environmental and clinical isolates of Cryptococcus spp using molecular based methods. Isolation and identification of Toxocara canis from boys (10 years and under) and dogs in Zambia. Risk Factors of Cholerae/Typhoid affecting Communities in Endemic areas of Zambia. Antimicrobial effects of Cannabis on selected common routinely isolated bacteria. The effects of ‘Ntembusha’ on fungal skin infections. Currently he is undertaking a research study for his doctorate (PhD) (Medical Microbiology) at the University of Zambia, School of Health Sciences on Molecular Characterisation of Clinical and Environmental Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates in Lusaka District.
