Limbali Muyendekwa is a Lecturer, researcher and consultant in the Department of Arts, Languages and Literary Studies in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zambia (UNZA), where he has taught since 2008. He has served as Acting Head of Department and as Section Coordinator for Linguistics and African Languages, and he holds a Master of Arts in Literature from UNZA.
He teaches African oral literature, literary studies and creative writing in Zambian languages, and gender issues in literature to full-time and distance students. He has coordinated departmental student study tours to Botswana, Namibia, Mongu–Kalabo and Livingstone–Kazungula. He has written course modules for the Institute of Distance Education and teaches Silozi at the University of Zambia Language Centre (UNZALAC).
A translator with the Zambia Lexicographical and Terminological Initiative (ZALTI), he has co-authored the Longman Chitonga Grade 8 learner’s book and teacher’s book. His research focuses on African oral literature, especially the Tonga and Lozi traditions of Zambia, gender in literature, literacy, and media and information literacy. He has published in the areas of African oral literature, Zambian languages and literacy, and is a member of the Organisation for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA).
