Biography

Dr. Eliphas C. Machacha is a sociologist, academic, researcher and university administrator in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zambia. He has accumulated vast experience in teaching and research in Sociology, Criminology, Criminal Justice, Industrial Sociology, Research Methods and related social-science fields. During the course of his work at the University of Zambia, Dr. Eliphas Machacha has also served in other administrative capacities including serving in the position of Assistant Dean (Undergraduates) in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

As Head of the Department of Social Work and Sociology, he provides academic and administrative leadership in teaching, research, curriculum development, postgraduate training, staff development, community engagement and the expansion of the Department's academic and professional programmes.

Qualifications

He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Zambia, an MSc in International Development Studies (Sociology of Rural Development) from Wageningen University and Research Centre, Netherlands; a BA in Sociology with Public Administration from the University of Zambia.
