The Master of Science in Environmental and Natural Resources Management programme builds on the success of the department’s Bachelor’s Degree programme in Environmental and Natural Resources. Like the Bachelors Programme, the development of the programme is driven by the country’s need for skilled professionals that will oversee the implementation of various environmental policy and legal frameworks, some of which have only recently come into force. These frameworks require well knowledgeable professionals, equipped with advanced interdisciplinary problem-solving skills to effectively implement them. The programme thus provides advanced training to environmental professionals required in sectors such as wildlife, mining, climate change, natural resources, sustainable land management, water and forestry.
The programme aims to
- Provide knowledge and skills that are directly relevant to the environment and natural resource industry in Zambia
- Produce a pool of environmental experts with ability to identify environmental problems and possible solutions
- Produce a cadre of environmental experts with an awareness of society within a broader context, including social and legal issues
