Nixon Miyoba was substantively appointed as a Lecturer to The University of Zambia in December 2018. Prior to his engagement as a Lecturer, he worked at Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH), where he served as Principal Dietitian, as well as Head of Department for the Nutrition and Dietetics Unit. At KTH, his primary responsibility was coordination and provision of nutrition and dietetic services to patients and the population in the catchment area. In addition, he served as coordinator of the research committee from 2016 to 2018. He was actively involved in spearheading a number of research studies through collaborative work with other departments. Further, he participated in the training of medical personnel in enteral and parenteral nutrition. He is also experienced in teaching medical and non-medical students. In total, Nixon Miyoba possesses both clinical and academic experience spanning a 10 year period.
In line with the core functions of the University, he undertakes the roles of teaching, research and provision of community services. Research interest is in the area of clinical nutrition including diabetes management, nutrition screening, nutrition assessment, gastroenterology and nutrition support.
Mr. Nixon Miyoba is a registered member of the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) and Nutrition Association of Zambia (NAZ).
Mr. Miyoba is involved in a number of research work mainly focusing on clinical nutrition. In addition, he has been collaborating with investigators in the medical discipline and assisting both undergraduate and graduate students with their research works.
