The Department of Biomedical Sciences, together with the Departments of Pharmacy and Physiotherapy, was established in 2000 as one of the eight basic sciences departments in the School of Medicine. The Department is home to a BSc degree in Biomedical Sciences, MSc degree in Medical Parasitology and MSc by Research degree programmes. It comprises an energetic contingent of faculty, staff and students involved in a variety of activities and programmes in research and education. It also provides an advisory role to three colleges offering a Diploma in Biomedical Sciences and Radiology. These colleges are affiliated to the University of Zambia through the School of Medicine. The Department is committed to supporting and delivering modern comprehensive education, research and service in Biomedical Sciences.
