Dr. Sikazwe holds a PhD degree in Economic Geology from Vienna University, Austria obtained in 2001, an MSc degree in Mineral Exploration & Mining Geology from Leicester University, UK obtained in 1992 and a BSc degree in Mineral Sciences from the University of Zambia obtained in 1989. He has 23 years of working experience, i.e. 1 year in industry working for the Prescribed Minerals and Materials Commission (PMMC) as an exploration geologist on uranium surveys and as a supervisor of a coal drilling team of 15 people and 25 years in the university as a lecturer, researcher and consultant. 

During the time he has been with the University of Zambia he has: (i) internally examined three MSc theses and over 50 BSc theses at University of Zambia, (ii) externally examined 5 BSc theses from Venda University in South Africa and two MSc theses, one from University of Malawi and another from University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania, (iii) Co-supervised 5 MSc students from the Katholic University of Leuven in Belgium. He has developed and/or reviewed curricula for both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at the University of Zambia such as the Bachelor of Mineral Science in Geology and Master of Mineral Sciences in Mineral Resources Management. He has also helped the University of Malawi Polytechnic develop its bachelors degree programme in mining and metallurgical engineering through consultancy work supported by the World Bank. This has led to the establishment the Department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering. In addition, he has developed and conducted short training programmes supported by the EU, World Bank, Zambia Revenue Authority and industry. For instance, with the support of EU, he developed training materials and delivered them to small scale gemstone miners, with support from the World Bank he developed training materials and delivered them to staff from the Ministry of Mining of Malawi and Denison Mines (an exploration company) hired him to develop training materials and deliver them to its field assistants. He also facilitated a short training programme jointly conducted in Zambia with International Mining 4 Development Centre (IM4DC) of Australia for participants from 11 African Countries. Through support from IM4DC he toured a number of Universities, research centres and mines in Western Australia and Queensland to learn on R&D and how Universities and industry collaborate.

During the 25 years of his working life with the University of Zambia he has consulted for various organizations (both private and public) including the EU, World Bank, Sida, Government, Mopani Copper Mines, Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) (formerly known as Environmental Council of Zambia), Kariba Minerals, Trade Kings, First Quantum Minerals, Zambia Revenue Authority and Chibuluma Mines. He has also, within the School of Mines, coordinated projects such as the EU-supported Mining Sector Diversification Programme and the Belgian-supported VLIR-UNZA-IUC Programme. Besides being immediate past Dean of the School of Mines, past Head of the Department of Geology, past Assistant Dean – Undergraduate, he is currently serving as Chairperson of Students Residences Committee, Chairperson of the World Vision Zambia Board of Directors, member of the Petroleum Technical Committee in the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, member of the ACP-EU development Minerals Technical Working Committee  and member of the Executive Committee of the Zambia Mining Skills and Education Training Trust (ZAMSET) Board.
