Biography

Cryton Phiri holds a Masters Degree in Mineral Resource Prospecting and Exploration from Jilin University in China and a Bachelors Degree in Geology from the University of Zambia, besides, an Advanced Electrical Technician Certificate from Northern Technical College. He has worked with Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) as Production Geologists and later as Senior Geologists Grade Control for two (2) years prior to joining the academic fraternity as lecturer at the University of Zambia. He has two (2) years of teaching and five (5) years of research experience in Geology. Has taught undergraduate Geology students in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, Mining Geology and Economic Geology of Energy and Industrial Minerals, and supervised undergraduate students’ research projects. Research expertise is in Basin Geology, Energy Resources and Environmental Remediation. He has published over 5 research journal and two (2) Conference papers. He has served as an Assistant Dean-Research in the School of Mines of the University of Zambia, and as Lead Trainer in Development Minerals Project under United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Currently, pursuing PhD in Environmental Geology at Hokkaido University- Japan
