Misheng’u is a Professor of Infrastructure Construction Management and Economics in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. He joined the University of Zambia in 2015 in the School of Engineering where he has served as Assistant Dean responsible for Postgraduate, Head of Department, and acted as Director of Research, Innovation, and Development for over 13 months. He is a Rated Researcher by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa and has successfully built long-lasting partnerships across African universities and partner organisations resulting in him holding posts as Professor Extraordinarius and Research Fellow in three Universities in South Africa. He has hosted five professors from Nigeria, Kenya and Ethiopia. He is an expert in multidisciplinary research involving Infrastructure Project Procurement and Contracts Management, OSHE, Regeneration, and Climate Change, Infrastructure Project Finance and Investment strategies, Construction Materials Technology, Product Innovation, and Renewal Energy Management. His research projects have gained significant external funding from a wide range of sources including AfDB, WB, GCRF, Royal Society, EU, FCDO, NTU Strategic Development Consultants of Denmark, AECOM, Royal British, and Royal Engineering Academy.

Among key strategic outputs, he has formulated as an Individual consultant include but are not limited to the development of a National Transport Policy for Road Construction Health and Safety for Kenya funded by ILO and EU, National Codes of practice, and guidelines in Road Construction Occupational Health and Safety for Kenya in 2019 funded by EU, National Codes of practice and guidelines in Road Construction Occupational Health and Safety for Zambia in 2015 funded by EU/NTU, Technical documents for Rural Roads Climate Change Resilience and Mitigation Measures funded by the World Bank. Those developed as a member of a team include inter alias., National Policy for Nuclear and Radiation Protection, and Amendment Bill on Nuclear and Radiation Protection, and draft Contractors’ Skills Levy Regulation for the National Council for Construction.
